The Ethos of Murad Products
It all started in 1990 when Dr. Murad launched his ‘skincare revolution’ at Esthetics’ West Expo's speaking engagement. His ideas were clear, simple, and straightforward: ‘skincare is healthcare.’ Dr. Murad dreamed of gathering skincare professionals with different skill sets together to work as a team to help people gain the most beautiful, radiant, and healthy skin possible.
In 1998, Dr Murad was granted his first of 19 patents in recognition of impressive scientific discoveries that had improved the treatment of the skin.
Fast forward two years to 2000 and Dr. Murad discovered the key to holding water in the body was within cells where it provides the most benefit. This was when The Cellular Water Principle theory was introduced, and it was tested and validated during scientifically controlled research studies. Dr. Murad soon learned that the most common dermatological and health issues relate to cellular hydration at their most fundamental level.
Then, in 2003, Dr. Murad discovered the effects of cultural stress on the skin. This relates to the overwhelming day-to-day stress of modern living and how it significantly impacts the skin. This is where the brand’s social purpose, Eyes Up, developed from, which was launched in 2017.
For Murad’s 30th anniversary in 2019, the brand hosted its first pop-up experience to celebrate Dr. Murad’s dedicated commitment to skincare and wellness backed by science.
From the words of Dr. Murad himself: ‘Wellness is health, plus well-being. It's not only being free of disease and stress, but equally important is a sense of happiness, passion, gratitude and accomplishment.’
